Why are we given natural talents? Are we meant to spend our lives perfecting what we already do well, or is there something else we are supposed to develop?

In this episode, Seuseungnim explains that our natural gifts are only part of what we need to become fully developed human beings. A person may become highly accomplished in music, art, entertainment, or another profession, yet still lack the broader understanding needed to use those abilities wisely.

Seuseungnim introduces the principle of 70 percent and 30 percent. We can develop much of our capacity through our own field and abilities, but the remaining 30 percent must come through our relationships with others. The people who enter our lives often possess knowledge and experience in precisely the areas where we are lacking.

This is why humility and respect are so important. Instead of assuming that our expertise makes us superior, we can recognize that every person we encounter may have something we need to learn. By listening, exchanging knowledge, and genuinely connecting with people from different walks of life, we gradually fill what is missing within ourselves.

Ultimately, our talents were not given merely for personal success, recognition, or financial gain. They are meant to be developed alongside our character and understanding so that they can eventually benefit others and serve society.

This teaching invites us to look beyond what we are already good at and ask: What can the people entering my life teach me that I could never learn by myself?

Real questions. Deeper understanding. Wisdom for life.
