What does it truly mean to help someone who is struggling emotionally? Is a counselor’s role simply to listen, offer advice, and help a person feel better—or is there something deeper that must take place?

In this episode, Seuseungnim explores the role of the psychological counselor and what is required to genuinely help another person. The official Korean title of Lecture 5999 is 심리상담사, meaning “psychological counselor.”

This teaching invites us to reconsider the relationship between counselor and client, and the importance of continuing to develop our own understanding before trying to guide someone through their difficulties.

When another person brings us their pain and struggles, how can we become someone who truly helps them move forward rather than simply offering temporary comfort?

Real questions. Deeper understanding. Wisdom for life.
